  • I've visited a lot of churches in San Luis Obispo, but Saint Luke's is the most welcoming. From the moment you walk in, you're embraced and loved as family.

Saint Luke's is small: about 40-50 on a Sunday. The services last about 2 hours, and it's a mix of music, preaching, and praying. They're really amazing musically, especially for a small church. I get a kick out of watching the pastor play his fretless bass.

They do an altar call after the sermon, and you can go up and get prayer for whatever you need prayer for. At the end, everyone circles and holds hands and prays.

Half the congregation dresses in serious Sunday attire: suits, dresses, etc. The other half is really casual, and I've never felt the slightest bit of judgment for showing up in jeans. The phrase "eclectic mix" comes to mind. Like the body of Christ should be.

It's one of the most loving families I've ever visited.
